News from Roxtons: Roxtons - fishing holidays and shooting days
Gareth Craze, a first time visitor to the Lakselva river in Northern Norway, landed this huge fish on Wednesday morning. It was taken from the same pool that Brian Andersen landed his enormous fish last year (which itself weighed 48lbs).
It took Gareth just 25 minutes to subdue the leviathan before it was expertly netted by Jesse, his guide. After taking a few pictures the fish was returned. The fish was weighed but it would not stay still for long enough to give a true reading. It was somewhere between 22 and 24kgs. They have decided to take the lower weight as the recordable one which puts it at 48 1/2 lbs.
With Dick Tapp also in the lodge this week, it means that three of the six rods there at the moment have all landed fish of over 40lbs from the Lakselva river - an astonishing achievement.
The six rods have also had two fish of 30lbs, one of 28lbs, a 24lber, two of 21lbs and other fish in the high teens as well as several grilse which are reported to look like butterballs.
