The spring here at Rynda this year was fast and powerful. Rynda river opened from ice about May 9th and on May 15th there was a pick of spring flood. After that the water level was gradually falling down.
When we started our first fishing week on June 8th the conditions were pretty friendly. Water temp was unusually warm +10C and water level quite low for this early spring week.
Therefore, our first group of good Rynda friends had most of pools below First Fall fishable.
As always, early spring weeks test our anglers with challenging weather and give them a great feeling of hunting for the very first fresh salmon.
The weather was a subject to consider. We started the week with the unusually warm weather. On Saturday, there was light breeze from the South and strong sun made the air temp up to 26C.
Right on Saturday under the blue sky Chuck opened the score with the first nice salmon of the week from Sea Pool.
Next morning the weather turned to the more common shape: Northwestern wind with rain and air temp 3-5C. The salmon run started to build up. Our friend Ivan managed to land a solid 22-lbs springer at Sea Pool.
Two years ago, Ivan was awarded with a famous Big Fish ASR ring for his magnificent 28.5 pounder.
This season was Ivan’s 10 years fishing at Rynda. At the dinner table Vladimir awarded Ivan with the commemorative ASR Veteran ring. Congratulations!
On Tuesday the weather became a real challenge. Strong North wind with a Christmas snow dropped the air temp down to as low as 0C. Water temp went down from 10C to 6C. Nevertheless, all of our anglers were doing their best and still catching fish.

We congratulate our dear friend Frank with his Birthday traditionally celebrated in the Rynda camp!
Every day tireless Neil and Roger escaped from camp after dinner to fish for the late evening hours. And almost every morning they added some fish to the Rynda Log book.
By the end of the week, Neil, Roger and their guide Gena discovered that despite of the low water temp salmon is willing to rise on a hitched Sunray Shadow. Last Friday all the team was fishing on the hitched Sunray and caught 6 out of 7 wonderful salmon on a surface!
