Salmon fisherman tragically drowns on the Spey

Really awful to hear of a man drowning on a swollen river Spey. A grim reminder to us all to take care and wear an inflatable life jacket or similar (though we dont know yet whether one was being used).

Dr Bill Richmond, 68, was wading on the River Spey, near Advie Bridge.

The speed in which the unfortunate angler was swept downspream, a reported 6 miles, shows the Spey must be respected when wading.
