The auction takes place on Thursday night so there are only a few days left to submit sealed bids. There will be some lots that may well go for considerably below the guide prices and some may find their bids succeed in the absence of others. Brochure here

River Dee Trust Auction

The River Dee Trust would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to all who helped make the auction a success. The kindness of the people who donated fifteen first class auction lots and the generous winning bidders will go a long way in helping the River Dee Trust with their important work. Many thanks to all who attended the event at the Savile Club in Mayfair on 1st March and gave us great moral support - your presence on the night was very much appreciated by all the River Dee Trust team.

There was a very good turn out at the event which was very well managed by the professional team at the Savile club providing a slick quality service. The excited visitors started to gather around 6.30 pm and by 7.15 pm there was a good atmosphere in the drawing room of the club, helped in no small way with ample supplies of Dalmore Dee Dram donated for the evening by Dalmore. Many River Dee supporters grasped the opportunity to engage with the River Dee Trust team and discuss the health of the river and future plans and developments. Many commented favourably about the work carried out over the last few years to restore the river to good health and the very good PR in communicating to a wide audience significant news about the river.

River Dee Trust Chairman Ian Scott addressed the audience first and expressed his thanks for the support from visitors in coming along and his hopes for a successful event where much needed funds will be used for important long term improvements for the River Dee. He explained the challenges ahead facing the river with pressure through increased need for water abstraction and the spectre of global warming and the implications if not tackled now.

Fiona Armstrong then addressed the audience with a very entertaining speech that drew a hearty round of applause. She advised that the River Dee has a special place in her heart as the place where she caught her first salmon and her first salmon on the fly. She talked about the privilege of opening the River Dee in 2011 and how delighted she was when a fish took her fly in front of a large assembled audience and television crews. She then explained why it was important to support the River Dee Trust with it's important work programmes to ensure the future prosperity for the River Dee and asked the audience to dig deep and ensure the auction was a success.

The wonderful Bernard Williams from Christies in London took to the stage to address the audience; his wit and repartee went down very well with the assembled guests. He addressed the audience with infectious enthusiasm and professionalism (and extracted everything possible from the guests!).
