Default Malselv River

The Målselv River (Målselva) is a big river by any standards with a huge waterfall/rapids (Målselvfossen) marking a distinct boundary about a third of the way upriver from the sea. The salmon fishing is good and of course can be 'very' good directly below the falls but this is privately leased during the peak months. Europe's longest fish pass allows salmon to by-pass the falls and 2012 saw a record 4,719 fish doing so. The river above the falls forms a series of elegant sweeping bends which offer excellent fly fishing for about 20 miles. The river then splits and is lake fed.
