This is actually a salmon and sea trout black spot, as they get stuck in low or cold water. It's a great place to watch them jump however!

There are moves by the Tyne Rivers Trust to lessen the jump and make it much easier for salmon to move upstream here.

Default What is a good river height for fishing on the Tyne?

Here is the Tyne at 2in (5cm) on the Gauge: Difficult fishing!




Here is the Tyne at 10in (25.4cm) on the Gauge: Good for fly fishing!.




Here is the Tyne at 1ft 2in (35cm) on the Gauge: Good fly and spinning water especially if dropping slowly.
