Biggest single run of salmon and sea trout in one day on Tyne!

I have just heard from the Environment Agency that on Wednesday 8th September, following rain and a subsequent rise of water, no less than 2,684 salmon and sea trout passed the fish counter on the Tyne at Riding Mill. This is the highest single-day count on record beating the previous best by over 850! So far this season the count stands at 27,696.
