Default River Tyne Salmon Rod Catch Statistics

The Tyne is now the best salmon river in England and has shown very good growth since almost dying as a salmon river in the 1950s due to industrial and household pollution of its estuary.

Salmon rod catch

20002001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 10 year average
2,297 2,5132,5852,1634,1223,5913,795 3,091 3,389 2,986 3,053

How does the Tyne compare to its neighbouring rivers?

This chart plots salmon rod catch trends on the three main North East England salmon rivers.

Fascinating stuff, Editor

Out of interest, what is the ratio used for comparing the Coquet, Tyne and wear? i.e. what does "1" represent?

Seeking

My charts are graphs that allow for clearer trend comparisons. The 1 represents the average rod catch over the period.
