Default How to recognise a good fishing height on the South Tyne

The South Tyne at 4in (10cm) on the Gauge: Excellent for night-time sea trout but low and tricky for salmon during the day.

The South Tyne at 7in (17.5cm) on the Gauge: OK for salmon on fly.

The South Tyne at 1ft (30cm) on the Gauge: Very good for salmon on the fly.

The South Tyne at 1ft 4in (40cm) on the Gauge: Very, very good for salmon and sea trout on the fly!

The South Tyne at 2ft 4in+ (70cm) on the Gauge: Good for salmon and sea trout (during the day). Biggish flies and Spinning water.
