Catch statistics for all Scottish salmon rivers
Earlier in the year we predicted the following for 2009:
With the 2009 season over and the returns currently being ‘officially’ counted the SalmonAtlas predicts that Tweed Commissioners will report a salmon catch of around 10,000. This salmon rod catch will be around 29% down on the previous five year average. The charts below are derived from data published by FishPal's excellent Tweed website ( fishtweed.co.uk) whose reporting Tweed beats account for approximately 77.5% of Tweed’s annual reported salmon catch. The charts show that many beats of lower and middle Tweed have had a ‘difficult’ year in 2009. Even the famous Junction beat is down 40% compared to the previous five years.
Bottom Tweed (Tweedhill to Milne Graden). * Note - bottom Tweed beats are greatly affected by water levels (Low water suits them well!)
Lower Tweed (Tillmouth to Junction).
Middle Tweed (Lower Floors to Boleside).
Upper Tweed (Sunderland Hall to Dawyck).
