A spate river, rising on Bodmin Moor near Davidstow, flowing about 30m to enter the Atlantic between Pentire and Stepper Points. Salmon, sea trout and small brown trout. Grilse from June, with the main runs in October, November and December. Sea trout from June to Aug. Best brown trout fishing is in the tributary De Lank. Salmon fishing in upper reaches dependent on heavy rainfall. There is a voluntary restriction in operation covering the whole river. No fishing in April; in Sept all sea trout to be returned, and a limit of 2 salmon per day and 4 per week (10 per season), and 4 sea trout per day; also no selling of fish and no maggots. A salmon broodstock scheme operates Nov/Dec when rod caught salmon can be donated to a designated hatchery. Salmon season ends 15 Dec!
