This initiative is crucial in our ongoing efforts to protect and restore the natural environment of the Spey catchment area by managing invasive non-native species.

Employer: Spey Fishery Board

Salary: Up to £23,000 pro-rata
Contract: Fixed term from start date to end October 2024
Hours: Full time or potential to work on an agreed part time basis
Location: Spey Fishery Board, 1 Nether Borlum, Knockando, Aberlour, AB38 7SD

Your role: The Scottish Invasive Species Initiative is a multi-year project in northern Scotland, which aims to encourage communities to tackle invasive non-native species such as Japanese knotweed, giant hogweed and American mink. It is currently funded by the Scottish Government’s Nature Restoration Fund.

We are looking for a dynamic professional to join our team as a Seasonal Project Officer. The Seasonal Project Officer will work across the Spey catchment area and, with the Project Officer and Volunteer and Communication Officer, deliver the project this summer. The Seasonal Project Officer will be responsible for all or specified combinations of the following aspects of the project: communications, education and outreach, volunteer recruitment and management, biosecurity and invasive species control.
