Outfall Safari on the Esk – Volunteer Training Sessions
Volunteer training opportunity with the Forth Rivers Trust
Outfall Safari see’s volunteers walking sections of a rivers bank and utilising an app to assess the various outfalls and pipes that flow into the river. Volunteers can fill in the survey using a mobile phone device allowing them to capture an image of the outfall before rating it. This identifies outfalls that are polluting and provides a snapshot of the impact of outfalls in the survey area.
To find out more you can read about the first Outfall Safari carried out on the River Crane in London in 2016. This project was able to identify sources of pollution which were unknown in some instances, and by highlighting them was an important tool in instigating remedial action.
We still have spaces on our Outfall Safari training courses next Monday 3rd ,Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th Oct.
All training courses are taking place at the Easthouses Miners Welfare Club and run between 19:30 and 21:00. This training is free of charge.
