Week 29 – Despite the very low water conditions, some nice fish caught!-26th July 2016 16:26

Week 29 because of the unusually low water, was less productive than a typical week 29 is supposed to be. The water continued to drop to a very low level and the fish have not been active at all. Since the river has not been rising for weeks, it seems as though the salmon in the pools have not been in any mood to take any flies. Nevertheless, a few of our guests were lucky and able to land some nice fish this week!

Our first time visitor Josh Heinz from the United States for example was able to land his first Gaula salmon on our Beat G1. A good and fresh fish of about 7kg.

Back from a week to the wonderful Bonaventure river.

Bonaventure is a stunning gin clear river; 62 km of ZEC management in 8 sections of different "limited and unlimited" rods. Probably one of the best river in the world for water clarity and scenery...but not really for number fishes caught. Like always, I wasn't in the right week) (19/25 july), but the size of "salmon" caught are just a grilse. Really a pity for such a jewel! Very difficult week with a low run of grilse, sparsely in many kilometers of water.
I hope to come back with the right times and mood.
