Welcome to the new Taw salmon season 2011, lets hope its a good one. The closed season was a very cold period with few really big floods, indications are that the system enjoyed a good spawning with little damage to the redds. Large numbers of fish were seen throughout the upper catchment, this is encouraging news, lets hope for good egg numbers and a high juvenile survival rate. The river at present is looking superb offering every chance of a March springer, it will be of interest to see if any early fish are taken are taken on the Mole now that improved access is completed at Head Weir, this will be feature of the season, will Mole fish run during low flows? hold up at Junction or travel up and down the system waiting for water. Fish are not caught taking about them so brush off your tackle and go fishing.Tight lines. Richard.

Water is very low again I see. Great.

Richard - If one was of a religious bent then a timely prayer to the Big Man upstairs might be percieved as worthwhile. If on offering up said prayer the rains came and a fish was caught as a result, it could be argued that this result was facilitated or at least epidited to a certain extent by talking of afformentioned fish's capture.

Actually, on second thoughts, you're right ...................

Have a good season all.
