Malloch Challenge Trophy
The highest award in salmon fishing, the Malloch Challenge Trophy, is awarded each year to the angler who has caught a 20lb plus salmon on the fly in Scotland.
This years winner will secure their place in angling history and join an illustrious list of anglers which stretches back four decades. Winners include Tom Buchanan, Philip Black, Andy Britton, Jim Reid, Shamus Jennings, Sandy Walker and the current holder David Johnstone for his 29.5lb Spring salmon from the river Naver.
To be eligible for the trophy an Atlantic salmon must be caught on a fly in a sportsman like manner in Scotland and safely returned in order to qualify. Whilst the size of the fish is an important factor, other considerations such as condition, handling and the overall catching experience are taken into account.
The winners name will be engraved on the Malloch Trophy and also receive a replica trophy. They will also be invited to a dinner to receive the award.
