Hi all

Next year I will be visiting Washington state for a family wedding, we are there for a month, mid July to mid August. We are staying just outside Seattle and I was wondering (as I will have plenty time on my hands) where one could go fishing for Salmon and Steelhead, I know there are many rivers, one is happy to travel and stay over at various places.
Am I able to rent tackle out from anywhere?
Also if anyone could advise on any decent lodges to, this would be of great help.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi sealink,

Your time frame may be a bit early for the Winter Steelhead runs in the West Coast rivers. I fished mostly on rivers in the Eastern part of the state that empty into the Columbia River. These days the Columbia River basin has many restrictions on Salmon and Steelhead fishing. The fishery numbers have drastically dropped over the past years and there are Federal restrictions on many rivers that feed the Columbia.

What you need is some local knowledge and you should contact some of the local fly shops. Here are some you can contact and learn from their WEB Sites.

Pacific Fly Fishers in Mill Creek just north of Lynwood. I am sorry but the Link Tool is not working for me. Here is the WEB address: http://www.pacificflyfishers.com/

Dennis Dickson's Guide Service has a bunch of information and should be helpful. Here is the WEB address: http://www.flyfishsteelhead.com/

Then right down town Seattle is Kaufmann's Streamborn. Kaufmann's can hook you up with guides or trips. They are also a great source for fly tying materials. Kaufmann's is a great source for trips and lodges. Here is the WEB address: http://www.kaufmannsstreamborn.com/Our-Story/Store-Locations/Store-Two/
