Big fish on the Big Laxa

The Salmon Atlas
Laxá has produced some of the largest salmon taken in Iceland this year. Many 20- pounders were landed from the waters of the Big Laxá Fishing Club in early August and on August 13 Mr. Wes Lipner caught a 26lb salmon on a Red Frances. Mr. Mortan Carlsen, a sport fisher from the Faroe Islands, was even luckier on September 8. He took a 28.6lb fish that is likely to be Iceland’s biggest 2009 salmon. The salmon, a cock fish, was tempted by a fly called the Wolfowitz.
