Wonderful river to fish for Summer Run Steelhead ... and ..

one of the hardest to wade I've ever set foot. Especially off the West side. Main train tracks run down the west side of the lower river and all that lava rock that was blasted out litters the river bottom.

Not unusual to be in 3' of water and not be able to see the bottom if the "White River" is dumping silt. You soon learn that a wading staff is darned cheap life insurance.:eek:

Edit: The maps referenced on the left side of this link give you an excellent idea of where the camping areas are, what facilities are there, shade, etc. The 'mileage' postings are dead on: http://www.boaterpass.com/ then click on the section (at the top) called "The River." Map 2 has the area referenced in Brian's photo above.
