river torridge update: easter weekend

You can all see from the webcam that the river is really showing its bones after an exceptionally dry two months. There was a good run of salmon into the lower river on the spring tides last weekend and despite the very low river levels I have heard of three salmon being caught and one rod tells me that although he was unsuccessful he has never seen seen so many salmon showing in one pool on the Torridge: and this was well up the river. The sea trout will start to enter the river in numbers early next month and they will move upstream whatever the height of the river. Highlight of the brown trout fishing has been a fish of 1lb 14oz caught by Tom Lind fishing the Half Moon beats at Sheepwash. Let's hope when it does decide to rain it knows when to stop!! Keep fishing.
