Tweed's record 2010 salmon season ends

The Salmon Atlas
Today was the last day of a Tweed salmon season that has broken records.

The results listed for many beats on FishTweed.co.uk total over 17,000 salmon caught this year. These beats normally account for around 80% of all fish caught on Tweed which means that this season's total, once officially totted up, will be over 22,000 fish! Double last year and over 65% better than the five year average.

This amazing score is a testament to good river management and the work of NASF who brokered the buyout of 80% of the north east England net fisheries (which took many Tweed fish).

No hatchery needed here for the most productive Atlantic salmon rod-fishery in the world.

Congratulations to the Tweed Foundation and thank you Orri Vigfusson!
